"All my life I've been harassed by questions: Why is something this way and not another? How do you account for that? This rage to understand, to fill in the blanks, only makes life more banal. If we could only find the courage to leave our destiny to chance, to accept the fundamental mystery of our lives, then we might be closer to the sort of happiness that comes with innocence."
What with the whole Belle De Jour blog phenomenon and now the Pixies' reunion gig ("Got me a movie, ha ha ha ho, slicing up eyeballs, ha ha ha ho"), it seems that Luis Buñuel's time has come again.
I haven't seen any of his films for ages, but he was a real teenage favourite of mine. I'd love to get an English subtitled copy of The Exterminating Angel on DVD, but it seems that currently the only subtitled versions are on VHS and the only DVD versions are un-subtitled.
