Aw. How old are they?
Nieces #3 and #5 are playing with their recently acquired Doctor Who Top Trump cards over breakfast.
#5 [bold]: "I don't think the Daleks are actually very scary."
#3 [sceptical]: "You don't know what you're talking about!"
#5 [indignant]: "They're not scary at all. I'm not scared of Daleks."
#3 [amused]: "Oh yes you are! If one came through the door now, you would run away crying!"
#5 [wavering]: "No I wouldn't..."
#3 [relentless]: "If one came along the hallway and into the kitchen and looked at you and said EXTERMINATE! you would be so scared, you'd run away!"
#5 [stubborn] "No I wouldn't, I WOULDN'T, I'm NOT SCARED of Daleks!"
Hg [trying to defuse the situation]: "What about Cybermen?"
Two pairs of eyes turn towards him and open a fraction wider.
#3 [uncertain] "Cybermen...?"
#5 [smug] "They're REALLY scary!"
Silence follows and play continues. #5 grins as she spots that her next card is the Emperor Dalek, always a sure-fire winner in the height stakes at 9.14 metres.

Currently #3 is eight and #5 is five. The final episode of the series on Saturday, with Cybermen AND Daleks AND Rose "dying" (publicity for this has been rather ambiguous, so I'm interested to see what they're going to do with her), is going to blow their minds.
Nephew #2 (also five) is very freaked out by the Cybermen too. Interesting, because I didn't think they were that scary. Then again, I am thirty-eight.
My daughter was a bit miffed that it was the Daleks as she thought it was a giant chicken egg and though the Giant Chicken was coming to get the Cybermen.
My son on the other hand was overcome with excitement about the daleks and the cybermen at the same time.
Thanks for the pointer to Doctor Who Top Trumps. One Christmas present sorted out then.
